Government Structure
The President is the Head of the State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic. He is elected in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of Kenya. The President appoints Ministers and Assistant Ministers from among members of the National Assembly. He also appoints Permanent Secretaries in various Ministries.
The Ministers are in-charge of their ministries, which may have more than one Department headed by technical officers reporting to the Permanent Secretaries.
The Republic of Kenya is among a handful or so of Africa States that have maintained a representative democratic system of Government since the attainment of Independence on December 12 1963
