Base Titanium

Base Titanium is the owner and operator of Kenya’s first large-scale modern mining project, the Kwale Mine. Representing close to 60% of Kenya’s mineral output value the Kwale Mine has been recognised by Vision 2030 as a Flagship Project dues to its transformative impact on the country’s mining sector. Base Titanium represents large-scale miners on the Executive Council.


Charlie Tryon

Charlie Tryon is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Maris and is a Director of Maris Limited. He serves on the boards of Karebe Gold Mining Limited, Kenya’s largest Gold producer and Venice Mine Complex in Zimbabwe, a mid sized Gold mining company based in Midlands. He oversees the group from East Africa. Prior to Maris, Charlie developed a successful portfolio of venture businesses in Afghanistan and East Africa following a short career as an investment banker in London. He is a graduate from the University of Edinburgh.

Dr Tim Sharp

Dr Tim Sharp represents Large Scale Explorers in the KCM Executive Committee, on behalf of Acacia Exploration Kenya.

Tim has worked as Exploration Manager for Acacia Exploration Kenya since 2012.  Previously he was Regional Principal Geologist for ABG Exploration in Tanzania.  He has been involved in gold and base metals exploration within Africa and Australia, covering a wide variety of deposit types within a diverse range of geological terrains. He has worked for a variety of industry and government organisations. He holds a MSc and PhD in Geology from the University of Technology, Sydney and is a member of the SEG, AIG, GSK and GSA


David W.K. Visram

David Visram represents the Small-scale & Artisanal Miners in KCM’s Executive Committee. He is a small-scale miner himself, mining Tsavorite in Taita-Taveta County. David is an accountant by training, and has operated in the hospitality industry for many years. In 2001, when the tourism industry was collapsing slowly, he decided to follow his passion and venture into mining gemstones in Taita. His wife has worked in rehabilitation of mining sites for 28 years, and shares his passion for the out-door and life in the bush.

Joyce Mukururi

Joyce Mukururi is the Managing Partner; Njeri Mukururi & Company Advocates. She is a Certified Company Secretary and a duly registered member of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK). She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya having been admitted to the bar in 2006. She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.  Ms. Mukururi serves in the Chamber as Company Secretary.

Geol. Convine Omondi

Geologist Convine Omondi is the CEO and Lead Consultant at GEOHAUS Resources Ltd, a Geoscientific, Mining and Geotechnical Consultancy firm.  He holds MSC Engineering Geology and BSc Geology from the University of Nairobi, Global Executive Master of Business Administration (GeMBA) from United States International University (USIU). He has served as the Secretary General Geological Society of Kenya (GSK), and currently is an Executive Board Member in Geologists Registration Board (GRB). He sits in the Executive Committee of Kenya Chamber of Mines (KCM) as the Geologist Member and Representative.

Kimani Peter Wainaina


Kimani Peter Wainaina is the Founding Director and CEO of Kencoal Ltd.  Kimani holds a BSc in Business Administration; Messiah College, (PA, USA), MSc in Economic Development; Eastern University (PA, USA) . Kimani has over 25 years of global working experience, Banking in the USA, Humanitarian & Relief in Kenya, Sudan, DRC and Somalia and Exploration in Kenya.  Kimani is a Member of the Executive Committee of Kenya Chamber of Mining

Moses Njiru Njeru - CEO

Moses Njeru is the current CEO of KCM. Moses is a mining engineer by profession. He has several years experience in the mineral sector having worked for the Ministry of Mining in Kenya, before joining Kenya Chamber of Mines in the above capacity where he held various positions of responsibility over the years: worked as mining engineer,  senior inspector of mines, warden of mines and Commissioner of Mines and Geology. He holds a Masters degree from University of New South Wales, Australia and a Bachelors degree in applied Mathematics and Physics from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Kenya.

Salome Mwangi

Salome is KCM’s Office Administrator. She has many years’ experience managing the activities of KCM. She takes care of all day to day administration, accounts and secretarial work. She is also in charge of managing the Membership and is your first port of call if you need help with the Ministry Cadastre system.
